Junior Tennis Registration Brochure

PEE WEE AND JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMS

The Lake Country Racquet and Athletic Club offers a wide variety of Tennis programs for younger players. The following shows the different types of classes offered. For a full brochure showing times and dates, please contact the Club.

Mr. Pee Wee Tennis

Mr. Pee Wee Tennis is designed for boys and girls ages 4-7. Our goal is to develop eye hand coordination and motor skills. It takes place on miniature courts with graduated length racquets and foam balls.

The varying levels of Pee Wee tennis are tennis pro-defined. If you have questions as to where to place your child, please call and discuss it with one of our pros.

Each Pee Wee & Futurestar first time participant receives a Wilson racquet and certificate of completion.

Pee Wee I Designed especially for boys and girls ages 4-6. The lessons take place on miniature courts with smaller size racquets and soft foam balls. First time participants receive a Mr. Pee Wee racquet and a certificate of completion.
Pee Wee II Advancement to Pee Wee II is the tennis professionals decision. If you have questions as to where to place your child, please call and discuss it with one of our pros.
Futurestars A continuation of the Pee Wee program. At this level we introduce regulation balls and full court play within the boundaries of the 45 minute drill. The cost is still regarded as a pee wee drill. Age 6—8 years.

Junior Tennis Program

Upon completion of our Pee Wee Tennis Program, your child may advance to our Junior Tennis Program (with tennis professional's permission).

We have a variety of levels for our junior participants to choose from. The following is a list by level. When choosing a drill for your child, please be sure to match his level, not necessarily the age group. If you are in question as to where to place your child, please do not hesitate to contact any of our tennis professionals and they will discuss your child's experience in tennis and help you to register your child in the appropriate class.

Superstars I

Ages 7-9
Can hit baseline to baseline several times with a low compression tennis ball. Is able to hit short court with a regular tennis ball back and forth. Working on good fundamentals for the foundations of their ground strokes. Uncomfortable playing at the net.

Superstars II Ages 8-11
Has had some prior instruction. Can hit baseline to baseline several times with a regular tennis ball. Starting to use proper technique in play and working on positioning. Serves are still inconsistent, but necessary because some point play and games will begin by serving. Net play is encouraged.
Superstars III Ages 8-14
1-2 years experience. Fairly consistent in ground strokes and working on spin with some directional intent. Lacks depth control. Proper form should be present in rallies. Serves are working on consistency and control. Forehand volleys are consistent at the net. Baseline play is more of a comfortable position than the net.
Teen Intro Ages 12-15
The group is geared toward those teens that have little or no experience in tennis.
